LOTHAR BAUMGARTEN | Land of the spotted eagle

The Von der Heydt-Museum Wuppertal is dedicating an exhibition to the German artist Lothar Baumgarten (1944-2018) with works on display from the Lothar Schirmer Collection. This is the first tribute to Baumgarten in a German museum since his untimely death six years ago. Baumgarten´s work revolves around the notion of the "own" and the "foreign", it deals with distant spaces that the European eye and European politics are trying to conquer.
