JOANNA PIOTROWSKA | Entre nous

LE BAL presents the first exhibition in France  dedicated to the Polish artist Joanna Piotrowska.The exhibition brings together works from several series as well as new works that have not yet been shown.  The viewer observes bodies under tension with artificial postures staged in domestic interiors, childish and precarious huts built from scratch by adults within their own homes, gestures against invisible enemies, but also cages of zoos deserted by their occupants. Piotrowska shows many situations in which bodily expression replaces verbal expression. What language cannot express, Joanna Piotrowska voluntarily stages through carefully composed gestures and attitudes, thus creating a new corporeal alphabet, unusual and grating.
